As we come to the final part of this Psalm it is good to be reminded of the message that David wanted everyone to understand and live by. The title of the Psalm is “A calm resolve to wait for the Salvation of God’. In this Psalm, David repeats his belief that God is the only one who saved him and that he would never be moved despite what situation he found himself in. This is a great encouragement to us because we live at a very dark time and the world is getting worse all the time. In times like these, it is so important to have our lives built on a strong foundation and remember all the times over our lifetime when God has been our Salvation.

This is an area of our lives where it is so easy to be consumed by the pressures of living that we stop pausing and recognise the goodness of God in our lives. I am encouraged by the phrase ‘A calm resolve ‘, this is how we live when we learn to trust the Lord in all aspects of Life. The older I am I become more thankful for the way God has provided for me in the many seasons of my life, so that I approach the future with great confidence because I know who God is. David declared that even though he was being attacked, his attackers would not be successful. Verse 11 says: “God has spoken once, twice I have heard this, that power (Strength) belongs to God “. It is good to be reminded that when the Bible repeats something, what is repeated is very important and should be applied to the way that we live.

We live in a world where the importance of the individual is taught along with if it suits me then it is alright. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are told in Proverbs 3:5 to: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding”. We know that sin came into the world because Adam and Eve trusted in their understanding. It is good to calmly acknowledge that the power(Strength) we need to follow His ways only comes from God, we cannot do it in our strength. This is an area in which I have appreciated over my lifetime because I have very little natural talent to rely on. I have been so encouraged by the strength and ability that I have received from God and the result is that many lives have been impacted by God flowing through me.

Verse 12 says: “Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy, for you render to each one according to their work” NLT “Unfailing love, O Lord, belongs is yours, surely you will judge all people according to what they have done”.  It is good to be reminded that everything we do is not unnoticed by God. There is no such thing as a secret that we can keep from God. This also includes the way that we think, God knows everything about us and keeps encouraging us to live Godly lives which is well pleasing to Him. It is good to remember that at the end of the age, we will all stand before God and give an account of all that we have done. This is something not to be frightened of but something to anticipate knowing God is a rewarder. May we never take for granted the greatness of our Salvation and the opportunity we have to live Godly lives in a dark world and continually experience the fruit of God’s Salvation. In God, we have so much to be thankful for and the truth of this Psalm is one of them.
